See how this example works

You submit one all-in bid. If selected, your payout equals that bid. This example cannot be booked.

At booking, the built flow asks the shipper's card issuer for a temporary authorization of the disclosed total. It is not a completed charge or a guarantee of payment and can expire. If it remains valid, Stripe is asked to capture after delivery — on shipper confirmation or after the disclosed response window unless a dispute is open. If it expires or capture fails, another payment step is required. Payout begins only after successful capture.

Hauler accounts are open now. Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. Public launch requirements are not complete.

Payment and payout timing

Payout begins only after successful capture. The built flow then asks Stripe to transfer that amount into your connected Stripe balance. An explicit check on the Payouts page records the normalized category Stripe reports for standard USD bank destinations and its configured payout schedule. Debit-card destinations, destination ownership or condition, payout arrival timing, and payout success remain unchecked.

Why bother

What you get out of it

Bid $1,240, receive $1,240

The fee goes on the shipper's side of the ticket, never out of your number. And that is not a policy we can quietly revise later — a booking whose payout does not equal the bid cannot be written to our database at all.

  • No charge to join or bid

Hauler accounts are open now. When public bidding opens, there will be no subscription, per-bid charge, lead fee or paid tier that gets anyone seen first. One published fee sits on the shipper's side.

  • Fill the empty leg

When shipper posting opens, loads can sit on the runs you already make — all 8 of them are listed further down, and a load sitting on none of them can still reach the board. The return leg you currently eat is the whole reason this exists.

  • Authorization is temporary; capture starts payout

At booking, the built flow asks the shipper's card issuer for a temporary authorization of the disclosed total. It is not a completed charge or a guarantee of payment and can expire. If it remains valid, Stripe is asked to capture after delivery — on shipper confirmation or after the disclosed response window unless a dispute is open. If it expires or capture fails, another payment step is required. Payout begins only after successful capture.

  • A wasted run still pays

If a shipper cancels after you have set off, they owe you for the run — $75 at minimum, and $2.25 a mile once we can measure the distance you drove. HaulHand takes no commission on a cancellation, so all of it is yours.

  • Your categories. Your pickup states.

The board filters by the categories and pickup states you choose, and you can narrow it further by pickup week. You still decide whether each load fits your rig, insurance and authority — HaulHand does not equipment-match it for you.

The corridors

Backhauls are the whole point

Montana, Idaho and Utah share a handful of long runs, and a load out usually means somebody wanting a load back. Right now that money is left on the road. Tell us which of these you run — or name a lane that touches none of them, which is just as useful — and we'll open it first.

Getting set up

Four steps, one afternoon

This is what stands between signing up and your first bid once your corridor opens. None of it costs anything.

  1. 01

    Create your account

Email, your name, and your hauling business. Confirm the email link, then choose your states and categories.

  2. 02

    Wait for approval

A person reads every hauler signup before the account can bid. Nothing to upload — the insurance and authority the work needs are yours to hold, and the terms say so plainly.

  3. 03

Say what you haul and where

The categories you take and the states you run. Add your USDOT and MC numbers if you hold them — shippers see those on your bid.

  4. 04

    Start bidding

When shipper posting opens, the board filters by your categories and pickup states. You decide whether your rig fits, then bid one firm number and a short note — no haggling, no dispatcher between you and the shipper.

Questions

What haulers ask

What does it cost to bid on loads?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. When public bidding opens, nothing. There will be no subscription, per-bid charge, lead fee or paid tier that gets anyone seen first. The fee is added on the shipper's side — bid $1,240 and win, and the hauler payout is $1,240.

Are there loads on the board right now?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. No. Create your hauler account now, tell us the categories and states you run, and your profile will be ready when shipper posting opens.

When do I get paid?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. Once public loads open, the built flow asks the shipper's card issuer for a temporary authorization when they book you. A card authorization is temporary and can expire or be released before delivery. It is not a completed charge or a guarantee of payment. If it expires or capture fails, another payment step is required. If the authorization remains valid, Stripe is asked to capture after delivery — when the shipper confirms it or, if the shipper does not respond or open a dispute, after the disclosed response window. Payout begins only after successful capture. The booking shows the response deadline.

What if a shipper cancels after I've set off?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. You are paid for the run you made. The policy is $2.25 a mile with a $75 minimum — priced by distance rather than by what the load was worth, because a cheap load a long way out burns the same diesel as a valuable one nearby. Being straight with you: we cannot measure that distance yet, so for now every cancellation pays the $75 minimum and the per-mile rate applies once mileage does. HaulHand takes no commission either way. Once the load is on your truck, the full bid is owed.

What paperwork do I need before I can bid?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. Nothing to upload — HaulHand does not collect or check documents today, and we say so rather than implying a check that is not happening. A new hauler completes the current-version onboarding gate by accepting the hauler onboarding material (version 2026-08-22), and a person separately reviews the account. That role-specific acknowledgment says insurance appropriate to the work and any required operating authority are your responsibility; it is not proof those documents exist. The onboarding checkbox does not accept the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy; the Terms have their own separately versioned acceptance flow and record. You can add a USDOT and MC number to your business page; shippers see those on your bid and can look them up on FMCSA. When document checks exist we will ask for them and say so.

Do I have to commit to set routes or a schedule?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. No. You choose the categories you haul and the pickup states you cover, and the load board filters on those choices. You still decide whether a load fits your rig, insurance and authority. Bid when it suits you and ignore everything else — there is no minimum and no penalty for going quiet.

Can I ship on the same account?

Public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. There are no live loads today. Not through the public launch path today. Creating a hauler account does not add shipper access while public shipper accounts and load posting are waitlisted. Join the shipper waitlist and we will explain the account path when that side opens.
