One published fee. Shown before you book.

Public shipper posting is waitlisted. When it opens, there is no subscription to post a load and no fee to bid. Nothing gets added after delivery — including what it costs to cancel, which is on this page rather than buried in the terms.

Shippers

4%

platform fee of the bid, added on top of the winning bid

  • No charge to post when shipper posting opens
  • No charge to collect and compare bids
  • Bids start at $100
  • Fee shown on the checkout screen before you confirm
  • At booking, the built flow asks the shipper's card issuer for a temporary authorization of the disclosed total. It is not a completed charge or a guarantee of payment and can expire. If it remains valid, Stripe is asked to capture after delivery — on shipper confirmation or after the disclosed response window unless a dispute is open. If it expires or capture fails, another payment step is required. Payout begins only after successful capture.
Haulers

$0

to join, list, and bid

  • You keep exactly what you bid
  • No fee to create a profile or place bids
  • Payout begins only after successful capture. Capture is requested after delivery — on shipper confirmation or after the disclosed response window — only if the temporary authorization remains valid.
  • No hauler pays to be seen ahead of another. The shipper's fee is 4% whoever they book

Worked examples

Where the money actually goes

A smaller load and a larger one. The fee is the same rate on both, and the hauler receives the full bid.

A 210-mile cattle haul, Bozeman to Idaho Falls

Winning bid
$1,240
Platform fee (4%)
$49.60
Shipper pays
$1,289.60
Hauler receives
$1,240

A multi-head cattle run, won at a larger number

Winning bid
$6,000
Platform fee (4%)
$240
Shipper pays
$6,240
Hauler receives
$6,000

The fee is added on top of the bid, never taken out of the hauler's number — which is why a hauler bids what they actually want to earn instead of padding for somebody's cut. A booking whose payout does not equal the bid cannot be written to our database at all.

If plans change

What cancelling costs

Nobody should have to read the terms to find this out, so it is here instead. What you owe depends on how far along the haul is — and every dollar of it goes to the hauler.

Before your hauler sets off

Free

Cancel right up until they leave for the pickup. The hold on your card is released and you are charged nothing.

Once they are on the way to you

$75

You cover the empty run they made for you, and it goes to the hauler in full. The policy is $2.25 a mile with a $75 floor — $270 on a 120-mile run — but nothing measures that distance yet, so today every one of these is the $75 floor. Either way it never depends on what your load is worth.

Once your load is on the truck

Full bid

The full bid. Your load is loaded and the job is being done — at that point the haul is happening, not being cancelled.

If the hauler cancels

You are charged nothing, at any stage. If they get to you and the load will not fit their rig, that is a cancelled booking and it costs you nothing; before pickup, your load goes straight back up for bids.

If they are running late

Cancel free, even after they have set off, once your pickup window has passed. You should not pay for an empty run that was not going to make it.

The whole charge goes to the hauler — HaulHand takes no commission on a cancelled booking. It is meant to be set by the run they made rather than by what your load is worth, because that is what a wasted trip actually costs them: a cheap load a long way out is expensive to reach, and a valuable one round the corner is not. Being straight with you, we cannot measure that distance yet, so today the flat minimum applies to every cancellation at this stage and the per-mile rate takes over once mileage does.
